A sheltered cabin surrounded by evergreen trees creating an intimate setting. Interior in a dark color scheme, restful like long winter nights.
UPLIFTING
“The place is magic. Nature, breathing space, sky. The cabin is cozy and spectacular at the same time. Host Friederike is just lovely. I will be back!”

PEACEFUL
“Upon arriving, I immediately felt an inner peace, and forgot a little about time and place. It was like coming to a world of its own, even though FURU is not far from where I live."

MAGIC
“When I think of FURU, I think of peace, nature, warmth, and coziness. It is a special place that touches the heart. A riding tour on Icelandic horses completed my FURU magic.”

An explorer at heart, Friederike has lived and worked in numerous countries, curiously learning about people, their cultures and their relation with their surroundings. She came to Norway for its breathtaking nature and stayed because of the people who surprised her with openness, warmth, and care.
“I believe that in the quietude of these forests, inspired by art and design, we discover not only beauty but also a connection to our own essence—a reminder of what truly matters. I am thrilled to share this transformative place with our guests, where they can reconnect with nature and themselves.”

"I seek the connection between the nature around us and man's inner landscape. The pictures are an invitation for reflection and a walk into the 'forest of symbols'. Man is by nature a searching being, and as a human being I feel an urge to contemplate life's small and large mysteries."

"FURU provides a haven surrounded by nature, a basis for good thoughts. A bit like sitting safely under a large tree and looking out. I hope my art can help reinforce this good feeling. I am inspired by being in nature and its changeability in color, shape and moods, and my works become a kind of translation of what I see."
FURU is nestled away on the side of a mountain overlooking hills and valleys. A traditional mountain farm with restored buildings in red and white provides a homely backdrop for this sanctuary. Today the farm is hosting Fjellblomster, where in the summer months flowers are lovingly grown and hand harvested.
"Our collaboration with FURU embodies ÖÖD’s vision of creating unique, immersive experiences that connect guests with nature and culture."
